What Do You Want To See On MaoChan?

April 24, 2007

I’ve been sitting here bored to tears and it came to me to possibly send out a proclamation to the Party.

MaoChan has been growing since it started a little over two months ago. Our readership has gone from a dribble of 1 or 2 to now about 1,000 visits a month. While that is still not much, it is good to see that people are enjoying this enough to truly spread it around.

I wanted to ask you, the people for whom this is for, what do you want to see on MaoChan? Is it porn? More food articles? Or more of the same?

I also wanted to mention that I have been toying with the idea of a contest. A giveaway of some sorts that will hopefully foster some community spirit. If I decide to do it, what would you like to see as the prize? I am up for suggestions and I will answer it right now, I will not be dolling out handjobs.

Let me know and continue to recruit for the Party.

Sodaplay: Physics IS Fun

April 23, 2007

Despite what you think, physics can actually be fun if presented in the correct fashion. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Sodaplay. A web-based applet, Sodaplay allows you to create whatever. From crawly things to ferris wheels, Sodaplay gives you some basic tools to create objects that demonstrate physical laws based on the conditions set for the environment.

It is a great teaching tool, and also provides a fun place to just screw around and see what you can make. Try a Sodaplay sumo match between two fucked up creations.

Get your edumacational on with Sodaplay.

YTMND: Back to the F-Zero

April 20, 2007

YTMND Back to the Future

Other than spending way too long on the above logo thus proving I do nothing at work, is this great mashup YTMND featuring everyone’s favorite Robert Zemeckis’ film, Back to the Future, and the classic no gravity racer, F-Zero.

If you ever go read the trivia for BTTF 2 and 3, it is quite interesting and it also explains why there were nowhere near as cool as the first movie in the trilogy. Granted hoverboards and the autodry jacket are the bee’s knees but still.

What really happens at 88 MPH.

DIY Bento Hot Dog Art

April 20, 2007

Japanese Hot Dogs

If you are like me, you are tired of boring lunches. You know the ones, where it is just a sandwich that has no pictures on it, and carrot sticks that just look like carrots. Well now you can make some very cool looking Japanese hot dog animals for your bento or lunchbox.

With simple diagrams that do not need any Japanese to understand, you are just minutes away from fantastic hot dog fun. Also mounds of ridicule as people question why you have so much time for hot dog art. It is because no one loves you except the hot dog bunny, he does.

Sculpt me a hot dog tapir.

Kondo Robot + Mikoshi = RoboMatsuri Goodness

April 19, 2007

The Kondo KHR-2 HV, known for his soccer and ass kicking skills, is where Japanese innovation meets Sci-Fi movie. These kit robots are able to dance and do all kinds of crazy things. But you have to ask yourself, what do I get if I dressed a group in happi coats, gave them some fans, a Mikoshi, and told them to parade around?

Please note that since this is so cool that I have made a decree, when/if MaoChan makes some money, the party will buy a Kondo Robot and he will embody the values of the party.

Casshern Featured in New Neo-Sapian WP Theme

April 18, 2007

Wordpress Theme

Today there was a new theme released on WordPress called Neo-Sapian. I know most of you probably think it’s ok. But that isn’t the focus here. The focus is that it is themed on the movie Casshern, a 2004 movie from Japan that unfortunately has not come out here in America.

Based on manga, it tells its story via full CGI with live actors (think Sin City) about a guy who dies and comes back as the savior of all. Over the top visuals and gritty religious metaphors, Casshern is, for lack of a better term, amazing. I am a lucky owner of the 3 DVD special edition I bought in Kyoto the day it came out and highly recommend you import it.

See the trailer for Casshern.

VG Cats: 300 vs Mario

April 18, 2007

200 VG Cats

VG Cats has been a long time staple of my daily internet chow. Funny, off-beat, sometimes bordering on sexually creepy. And it has kitties and a great art style.

Today’s comic is awesomely 300 themed. And we all know how much the masses love anything tied to 300 no matter how retarded.

Tonight we dine in the Mushroom Kingdom!
