Beautifully Built Bento Boxes

May 31, 2007

Bento Boxes

Fond memories of sitting outside of Kyoto Eki, station to you westerners, eating a bento box always come to mind during lunchtime. Available in many styles with all kinds of food inside, the bento box is more a concept rather than any particular food in itself. I usually went for the Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) bentos but sometimes would lean into Ika (squid) and Gyoza (fried dumplings) bentos from time to time.

A group of people are holding bento box making competitions with a theme for each and it has brought out some big guns. The one above was from the video game theme they were on and before that it was pirates. I think they should do a goatse bento box theme, because A) it would produce hilarious results, and B) a gaping anus should always be on your mind while consuming lunch.

Damn… her box is tight.

I Heart Gordon Ramsay

May 30, 2007

Of any and all chefs other than Ming Tsai or Martin Yan (the Yan Can Cook dude), Gordon Ramsay is a man after my heart. The dude is a mean SOB who gets things done and has an exceptional flair for his cuisine. His palate is refined without being too over the top. He knows that things such as scrambled eggs to do not need stupid additions such as truffle oil to taste good, the eggs do that already.

While I do not doubt his skill with the egg, I will doubt the amazing power of his scrambled egg compared to mine. Until he also has a German foreigner asking him to marry her just from tasting the scrambled eggs on her plate, I think my cuisine reigns supreme. Sorry Gordon.

I know Gordon Ramsay‘s Achilles’ heel, dancing.

YTMND: She Only Want Me For My Pimp Juice

Pimp Juice

I swear so long as there are people who make a sexual reference in a song, people will find a way to turn it into something silly…. or maybe it’s the other way around?

I don’t know about you but I still prefer the old St. Lunatics over most Nelly solo songs. Listen to Summer In The City and then to King of The City, there is an energy that is missing in the first one. Except E.I., that was Nelly’s opus.

Let it loose.

Jet Powered Truck PW|\|Z Airplane

Jet Powered Truck

This comes from the dudes over at Gizmodo who by the way write a delectable gadget blog. Taking a tip from the guys who add Flowmasters to their ’98 Civics, some hillbilly took it one step further and added jet engines and afterburners to a Semi Truck.

Now I know you asking how do I know the guy is a hillbilly. Well if you watch the clip and listen, during the race they are playing Dueling Banjos, the song famously featured in Deliverance. Yes, the crazy, mountain people, ass raping movie from the ’70s featuring Jon Voight. Like the tag line says, “This is the weekend they didn’t play golf.”

Squeal for me piggy.

Remembering The Sacrifice

Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day, a day to remember those that have died in military service. Now I will not state whether or not I support the current military action in the Middle East….**COUGH***NOOO!!!***COUGH***. What we really need to observe is not the wars, political choices, or bad decisions that have been made in the past that resulted in these lost lives but the lives themselves.

Everyday people die in military service. These people enter the service and realize that there is a chance they will not come home someday. It is a job that has the potential to ruin relationships and families. Whether you think it is a necessary job is for you to decide personally when you sign up for service but everyone should honor these folks. They have gone on to pay the ultimate price for their jobs, for a job they believed in so much that they were willing to die for it.

To all those gone and those who are living with the lose.

A-Ha: Take On Family Guy

A-Ha: Take On Me

I’ll not beat around the bush and just say it straight, I am not a fan of Family Guy. I see it as a string of decent jokes pulled together with a usually loose narrative that on the whole ruins some truly great moments. I also hate the “just like the time…” joke mechanic that they over use.

Now there are some great scenes that make me laugh really hard. They are witty, well done, and reference great pop culture as the joke. Take A-Ha’s song, Take on Me. It was one of those videos that defined the 80’s when music videos were emerging and still to this day is innovative in its approach. If only Family Guy was like that more than just a few random scenes as show.

I’ll be coming for you anyway.

XBox Elite is Blacker Than Black

Blacker Than Black

I don’t know about you but when I buy a game system, I like to have the original color released. I am not into the reissues that companies do in order to milk the profit. Granted for the Elite they actually made changes for the better, I am not all hot for it since it is black matte color. I like the white with chrome and green lights. It is hospital sexy.

If you were wondering what the above image has to do with anything, it is a movie called CB4starring Chris Rock. It features great quotes:

Yeah, yeah, I’m lickin’ your balls, best balls I ever had. Uh-huh, you’ve got King-Kong balls. Your balls are so large, just big balls, I don’t care. You just got big balls.

Cuz I’m black black blackidy black.
