Emperor Bush

Emperor Bush

No it’s not the name of an awesome new shinsengumi porn, it is the theory of a top US scholar of wartime Japan that Bush and Emperor Hirohito share common traits in their defiance of international law through militaristic action.

Herbert Bix, who won the Pulitzer Prize in 2001 for his landmark biography of wartime emperor Hirohito, said he believed US aerial bombings and alleged use of torture in Afghanistan and Iraq constituted war crimes.

Bix goes on to compare the actions of the US military to those of Japan’s defiance of the Nine-Party Treaty guaranteeing China’s sovereignty when Japanese imperial troops invade Manchuria in 1931.
