ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版: Rebuild of Evangelion

May 5, 2008

Although not the newest news to those who are heavily into anime in Japan, i.e. you cried like a bitch when Gundam 00 ended on the cliffhanger, the latest Gainax venture has started to show up on torrents titled Rebuild of Evangelion. Just like how Blade Runner was made but the technology did not exist for the true vision to occur, Hideaki Anno has now streamlined the story and is making a 4 movie epic of the story Evangelion. Made in HD with amazing redraws of scenes, this shall be nothing to look down on.

While I don’t condone piracy (yeah right, that is just for the fuckhole MPAA so you can eat my anus) this has not yet even been given thought on being brought over here in some disgusting repackage on DVD at $30 a disc. Instead hop on over to Anime Suki and get the first part right now. Remember to download the giant 1.45 gig version as it is in 720p goodness.

Shake yo boot like a bootlegga!

Fresh Baked Rickrolls

April 24, 2008

I think you know what what goes with Rich Astley, dinner and some butter. Some hot, steamy, buttered Rickrolls.

All you need is some time, a laser engraver, a generous collection of Rick Astley photos (which I know you do), and some friends to rickroll.

Butter that muffin.

Tokyo Anime Fair 2008 Photo Tour

Tokyo Anime Fair 2008

The guys over at the always awesome Akihabara News took a trip over to the Tokyo Anime Fair and provided a great gallery of photos. The fair brings in many Japanese TV channel or Studios that are there to promote the next year’s big items such as the new Macross series which will start airing in April. As always was the ever present Gundam. By the way, ever wonder where Gundanium comes from?

Gundanium’s name is actually an acronym; it stands for Genetic on Universal Neutrally Different Alloy. The suffix -nium was added to distinguish it from similar alloys being made on Earth. In the After Colony Universe, the word “Gundam” is derived from this acronym (GUNDAnium Mobile suit). Despite this fact, not every mobile suit made with Gundanium is a Gundam (examples: Vayeate, Mercurius).

Great Movie Scenes a la Typography

March 21, 2008

Just watch the video above which takes the great scene in David Fincher’s Fight Club and blurs it with typography art. This form of representation really brings forth the weight that these words convey. This was one of those movies every 16 year old went to see because it was “cool”. It had fighting, Brad Pitt, and quotable lines. But now stop and think, do you really realize what the book’s message was and how Fincher was trying to convey that with images? Well now you can see it all the better.

In the recent film by Gary Hustwit, Helvetica, “a variety of experts opine on the importance of typefaces as well as the subtle, unrealized effects that typography can have on us.” Well now watch these famous scenes in cinema brought to life with only words and see just how powerful words can be.

Check out the rest.

Glasses Change Everything

Glasses Change Everything

I didn’t become smarter or more likable when I got glasses….. never mind I did. Glasses changed everything, blue became green, onion soup tastes like chicken soup, and $1 soda vending machines now only charge 50 cents. You have to remember, first you get the glasses, then you get the power, then you get the women.

The day I walked out of the optometrist’s office was like being born. As I came out into the bright sunny day, I felt the wind lap at my warm skin. Just then a man in leather approached me and said, “John Conner. Come with me if you want to live.” From I went on to lead the human resistance against SkyNet. True story, it was thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis big I tell you what.

Cyanide and Happiness

Cyanide and Happiness

While the above comic might make you think that Cyanide and Happiness is nothing but a comic about copious amounts of lube and anal sex with men, I can assure you that it is not. Just as in life, there is more to it than just anal sex.

From the strange and to the sometimes almost nonsensical, the comic provides a look at situations in life. Maybe not your life but definitely mine. The randomness and acts of violence towards strangers. I didn’t mean the 12 man butt orgy you jerks.

Stickmen.

2008 Pirelli Calendar

Pirelli Calendar

What is the Pirelli Calendar?

The calendar is famous for its limited availability because it is not sold and is only given as a corporate gift to a restricted number of important Pirelli customers and celebrity VIPs. The Pirelli Calendar is perhaps the world’s only prestigious and exclusive “girly” calendar, featuring pictures generally considered glamour photography including artistic nudes.

Artistic nudes, that is probably the only thing you remember from the above block of text isn’t it you pervert. Well the link is SFW and really what is showcases is an amazing talent of the photographer. This year’s blending of dark colors with the contrast of the model’s skin really makes the images pop. Very cyberpunk which is always a plus.

Tasteful.
