Go Watch WALL•E

June 30, 2008

It is as simple as that, you need to go watch WALL•E. If you want to stop reading that’s fine because you already read the most important part of what I am going to say. Incase you missed it, go watch WALL•E.

Pixar has created an amazing gem of a film here that really blurs the lines of what is a kid’s film and what is a movie for adults. From the sober opening to the goofy robot chase, everything just works and clicks. What they did was create an amazing sci-fi film with a great atmosphere and message and then wrapped it in a cute and loving animation that everyone can like. For me, Pixar hit it with Toy Story 2, then it was Monsters, Inc. and now WALL•E takes the top pedestal position. I don’t want to say much more other than that and also the short film at the opening of the movie, a Pixar standard, is now their best as well. And yes, it does have a hoedown in it.

Old People Sex: Latest Craze in Japanese Porn Industry

June 18, 2008

The lastest trend in the hotness that is the Japanese porn industry is the booming drive for eldery porn, the porn that has grandpa giving grandma the wrinkly boner. Japan’s adult industry is worth over $1 billion a year (how is it not more?) and the old sex is thriving with companies such as mail order DMM’s catalog of over 2000 films a month containing 400 “mature women” films.

One star of the boom is Shigeo Tokuda is 74-year-old man in Japan. Despite suffering a heart attack three years ago, the lifelong salaryman now feels healthier, and lives happily with his wife and a daughter in downtown Tokyo who have no idea he is a 14 year vet of the porn industry with over 350 films to his name. And you thought you had a good alter-ego.

Old balls.

ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版: Rebuild of Evangelion

May 5, 2008

Although not the newest news to those who are heavily into anime in Japan, i.e. you cried like a bitch when Gundam 00 ended on the cliffhanger, the latest Gainax venture has started to show up on torrents titled Rebuild of Evangelion. Just like how Blade Runner was made but the technology did not exist for the true vision to occur, Hideaki Anno has now streamlined the story and is making a 4 movie epic of the story Evangelion. Made in HD with amazing redraws of scenes, this shall be nothing to look down on.

While I don’t condone piracy (yeah right, that is just for the fuckhole MPAA so you can eat my anus) this has not yet even been given thought on being brought over here in some disgusting repackage on DVD at $30 a disc. Instead hop on over to Anime Suki and get the first part right now. Remember to download the giant 1.45 gig version as it is in 720p goodness.

Great Movie Scenes a la Typography

March 21, 2008

Just watch the video above which takes the great scene in David Fincher’s Fight Club and blurs it with typography art. This form of representation really brings forth the weight that these words convey. This was one of those movies every 16 year old went to see because it was “cool”. It had fighting, Brad Pitt, and quotable lines. But now stop and think, do you really realize what the book’s message was and how Fincher was trying to convey that with images? Well now you can see it all the better.

In the recent film by Gary Hustwit, Helvetica, “a variety of experts opine on the importance of typefaces as well as the subtle, unrealized effects that typography can have on us.” Well now watch these famous scenes in cinema brought to life with only words and see just how powerful words can be.

Check out the rest.

Omurice Onegai Simasu!!

March 10, 2008

It is the end of the day and I am getting hungry. I saw a link for tamagoyaki over at 3Yen and it reminded me that I haven’t had some omurice in awhile. What is it you ask? Well how about watching some crafty bum whisk some up on the spot after breaking and entering with a minor. Such a simple yet delicious Japanese dish.

If you are wondering where the clip is from, the movie is called Tampopo which even features a young Ken Watanabe. Called “the first Noodle Western,” the movie is about Tampopo, a widowed noodle chef, who is helped by truck driver Goro and friends to become a world class chef. Food is the theme throughout this movie and it includes novel uses of food as erotic toy. It is a light hearted story full of fantasy. Fantasy because that bum would of made the omurice, ate it, and then molested the kid. Just like I do anytime I cook omurice.

The Dark Knight Leaked Trailer

December 14, 2007

The Dark Knight

I was super ecstatic to hear that the sequel to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, is shaping up to be the movie it should be. A dark and truly gritty masterpiece starring none other than Christian Bale and awesome actor man Heath Ledger.

Now most people were worried that Ledger couldn’t play a villain properly let alone portray one such as the Joker after it had been done with such bravado by Jack Nicholson. But according to some, “Ledger’s Joker makes Jack Nicholson’s look like your drunk grandpa”. Now to go change my last name to Wayne and become a billionaire then my real life of fighting crime will mirror the movie.

Watch it will it is up over at

Babylon A.D.

December 13, 2007

Babylon AD

Most people hear Vin Diesel and then start to whine. Sure he has been in bad movies but that doesn’t make him a bad actor. People need to go back and watch Pitch Black to see how well and finely crafted that role was portrayed and built out. So finding out he is going to star in a film adaptation of Babylon Babies sounds good to me.

Vin stars as Toorop, the mercenary, who is supposed to escort a woman from Russia to Canada. He learns that she is manipulated by a synthetic virus and that what lies inside her can be the downfall of the human race.

Think Children of Men and add a dose of Blade Runner and a dash of Diesel. But one of the big reasons too is that it is set to costar Michelle Yeoh, who has starred in greats such as Wo Hu Cang Long (no tigers and dragons for me), Memoirs of a Geisha, and of course, Sunshine.
